So what's with the new stainless steel transome bar on the new boats then ?
Will this be a retrospective up-grade or ......

Hi All

It is totally retrofittable - to all Mk2/3's and potentially to Mk1's (the height of the transom rudder post is different). It is not necessarily a default change but we are recommending it to larger owners and those who bash through big waves or who simply like the idea or want one - it should stiffen up the boat quite a lot in the aft 1/3rd. It triangulates/ links the aft hull corners and the rudder post where it fits behind the top gudgeon fitting It is very light and elegent imo. We will put one on the Dinghy Show boat in all probability - to answer all the ineviatble questions !

Mike,

Having just collected my Boat back from being repaired on the hull/deck joint around the transom again, is this bar designed to stop the twisting at the rear which I think is the cause of it splitting?

Any ideas on costs?

We are going to supply them as default on all new boats - but you can request that they are omitted as an option. They will fit all Mk2/3 hulls and maybe we could do a special version for Mk1's - Anyway there will be one on the boat going to the Dinghy Show this year so you can all 'oggle' at it. I'm still waiting for price confirmation and will report soon.

Matt - I will confirm prices to you after I have talked with Rondar next week. We default fit them to Mk3s now but owners do not have to have them fitted if they ask us to omit them .. you can 'opt out' of having one. If you sail is very demanding conditons (ie sea state) then they are a prudent idea. They also greatly stiffen the back of the boat.

I'm a fan, but if you tend to get back in the boat after a dunking at the back you might find it gets in the way. Fine once you get used to it though. Mine also causes water to pool a bit on the cover, but easily solved by putting something under the cover to hold the back up.

Hi Matt

Not yet - but I am collecting a (late) hull from Rondar in the next few days when ready and will confirm then. It should fit Mk2 and Mk3 boats but earlier ones would need a custom version as the rudder post is smaller/lower.

Cheers
Ian
